These are some of the most common questions I receive as an astrologer. The truth is that a birth chart does not indicate whether someone is destined to remain single. However, it does reveal the nature of their relationships, the lessons they are called upon to learn through them, and the reasons why they may be delaying the formation of a stable partnership.

Often, the problem isn’t that there aren’t any opportunities. The problem is that we unconsciously choose people who trigger certain patterns, or that we are at a stage in our lives where personal development takes priority over commitment.

The 5th house shows how you fall in love

Before we look at the 7th house, which relates to stable relationships, we need to look at the 5th house. The 5th house is associated with love, flirting, attraction, excitement and meeting new people.

It shows what sort of people catch your eye and how you behave in the early stages of a relationship.

A person may have a strong 5th house and fall in love frequently, without this necessarily meaning that they want to, or are able to, easily form a long-term relationship.

Zeus in the 5th house

It offers plenty of opportunities to meet people, a sense of optimism and makes it easy to approach new people.

Saturn in the 5th house

This person finds it difficult to let go. They may be particularly selective or need more time to open up emotionally.

• the potential for long-term commitment.

We often see people who have a particularly active 5th house but a demanding 7th house. This means that they may fall in love easily but find it difficult to form stable relationships.

The position of the ruler of the 7th house is one of the most important indicators of relationships.

If they find themselves in a difficult situation or are under intense pressure, people often experience recurring patterns.

The Moon reveals your deepest needs

Many people are looking for partners who will fulfil needs that they themselves have not actually recognised.

The Moon indicates:

• What makes you feel safe,
• how you receive and provide care,
• which emotional patterns recur.

When the Moon is under pressure, relationships often bring to the surface deep-seated insecurities that need to be addressed.

Saturn and delays in relationships

Saturn is perhaps the most misunderstood planet.

It does not suggest punishment.

It shows signs of maturity.

People with a strong Saturn influence in their relationships often take a long time to find what they are looking for, as they are first required to develop self-awareness, boundaries and emotional maturity.

The reward, however, is that they often go on to form more stable and meaningful relationships later in life.

Why do I keep repeating the same pattern?;

When you keep meeting people with similar characteristics or experiencing the same disappointments, it usually triggers a karmic pattern.

Astrology can reveal the pattern.

Change, however, comes when you recognise it and start to act differently.

It’s not enough for the person opposite you to change.
