Η Venus turns retrograde on 3 October 2026, at 8°29′ of Scorpio, and remains retrograde until 14 November 2026, when it stops to get back on course at the 22°51′ Libra.
This means that the true story of Venus’s retrograde motion is not confined to the approximately six weeks of its retrograde period. The zone through which it will pass three times extends from the 22°51′ Libra to 8°29′ Scorpio. This is essentially the area of its shadow.
The pre-retrograde shadow begins at approximately 31 August, when Venus first crosses 22°51′ of Libra. After going direct on 14 November, it needs to return to 8°29′ Scorpio to complete its post-retrograde shadow, which occurs at approximately 15 December 2026.
Simply put:
31 August – 3 October: The first chapter is being written.
3 October – 14 November: Let’s go back and see what really happened.
14 November – around 15 December: We make the final decisions and see which ideas can actually go ahead.
And here’s the catch: what comes back doesn’t necessarily come back to stay.
Why is this retrograde Venus so special?;
Venus is associated with relationships, attraction, love, value, self-esteem, money, shopping, aesthetics and everything we consider valuable.
This time, however, she begins her retrospective on the Scorpio, a star sign most closely associated with passion, intensity, exclusivity, sexuality, jealousy, the fear of loss, emotional dependence, secrets, as well as the finances we share with others.
He then returns to the Libra, the sign ruled by Venus herself and directly associated with relationships, agreements, balance, reciprocity and the question:
«Is this relationship truly an equal one, or am I compromising just so as not to lose the other person?»
So, Venus in retrograde doesn’t just bring the familiar scenario of «an ex coming back».
He may return:
a relationship that never really ended,
someone with whom there was a very strong connection,
an old complaint,
a betrayal you thought you’d got over,
a financial issue that remains unresolved,
money that is owed to you,
a long-standing partnership,
a business proposal,
or even the question of whether what you once wanted still holds any value for you.
The question is not simply «Will he return?».
The real question posed by Venus in retrograde is:
If he comes back, will anything have actually changed, or will you just be going through the same thing all over again?;
10 September: Venus enters Scorpio — passion begins to deepen
Venus enters Scorpio on 10 September. On the same day, it forms an opposition to Chiron.
Here we already have the first very significant clue as to the story that is about to unfold. Love touches a wound.
A relationship can trigger fears of rejection or abandonment. Someone may feel that they are not chosen often enough, that they are not good enough, or that they need another person’s validation to feel valued.
And because this aspect will recur during the retrograde cycle, it is not necessarily a random occurrence.
It may be the beginning of a story that we will need to revisit.
15 September: Venus square Pluto — when passion can turn into obsession
On 15 September, Venus on 3°16′ Scorpio forms a square with Pluto at 3°16′ Aquarius.
And this is one of the most important aspects of the entire retrospective, because it will take place in its entirety three times.
The Venus–Pluto aspect is not an insignificant one.
It can create a very intense attraction, passion and emotional magnetism, but in its more challenging form it brings:
jealousy,
obsession,
handling,
fear of abandonment,
power games,
secret relationships,
third parties,
the need for monitoring,
economic dependencies.
Something that is happening around mid-September may therefore not yet have run its course.
We’ll meet him again.
3 October: Venus turns retrograde at 8°29′ Scorpio
On 3 October, on 8°29′ Scorpio, Venus comes to a halt and begins to move retrograde.
From this point onwards, external developments may slow down and the past may take on much greater significance.
People are having second thoughts about their decisions.
Relationships that seemed a given are being called into question.
One can return to the place one had left.
Someone else might realise that what they thought was love was actually more like attachment.
And because Venus is in Scorpio, these reunions are unlikely to be neutral. Here we have tension, sexual magnetism, memories and emotions that may prove far stronger than reason.
That is why we need to be wary of one key pitfall:
Tension is not proof that a relationship is healthy.
7 October: Mercury conjunct retrograde Venus — the message that reopens the story
On 7 October, Mercury meets retrograde Venus at 8°13′ Scorpio.
This is a typical time when a conversation might resume.
A message.
An explanation.
A confession.
Someone who wants to find out if there is still a chance.
Something that has remained hidden until now may also be revealed.
However, we need not regard every communication as a final decision. Venus has only just begun to turn back.
The story is still in its early stages.
10 October: Venus square Mars — passions can flare up very easily
On 10 October, retrograde Venus in 7°21′ Scorpio forms a square with Mars in Leo.
Sexual chemistry can become very strong.
But so do conflicts.
«I want you» and «I’m angry with you» can be dangerously close.
That is why it is easy for an old relationship to rekindle, because the attraction has not faded — yet the problems that once led to a crisis have not been resolved.
20 October: Second Venus–Pluto square — the past demands answers
On 20 October, retrograde Venus in 3°04′ Scorpio It squares Pluto again.
Here, the issue that had arisen around 15 September.
This is the second chapter.
Something that was merely a suspicion at the time may now become a realisation.
A relationship can go through a crisis of control.
A person may return with much greater intensity.
Jealousy, secrets or past betrayals may resurface.
A financial claim or a situation of financial dependence may also arise.
The question is:
Who really holds the power in this relationship, and why?;
24 October: Sun conjunct Venus — the heart of the retrograde
On 24 October, the Sun meets retrograde Venus at 0°45′ Scorpio.
Astrologically speaking, this is a particularly significant point in the retrograde cycle.
Something is lighting up.
We’re starting to realise what we really want.
Or what we thought we wanted.
There may be a very intense realisation regarding a relationship, a person, a choice or our own self-worth.
25 October: Retrograde Venus returns to Libra
On 25 October, Venus leaves Scorpio whilst in retrograde and returns to Libra.
And this is where the question changes.
In *Scorpio* we asked:
«Do I still want him?»
In Libra, we begin to ask:
«But can we really be together?»
The relationship now needs to stand the test of reciprocity.
Passion alone is not enough.
What is needed is balance, dialogue, respect, compromise without self-sacrifice, and a genuine willingness for two people to meet halfway.
28 October: Venus opposite Chiron — an old wound is reopened
On 28 October, retrograde Venus in 28°14′ Libra It is once again forming an opposition with Chiron, now in Aries.
This is where the feeling might return:
«He didn’t choose me.».
«I wasn’t good enough.».
«Why do I need his reassurance so much?»
«Why do I settle for less than what I really want?»
The trauma does not necessarily return simply because you have to go back to the person who triggered it.
Sometimes it comes back so that you can see more clearly what was causing you distress.
1 November: Venus trine the North Node
On 1 November, retrograde Venus forms a trine with the North Node.
This is also a repeat of an event that took place on 8 September, when Venus was still moving in direct motion.
An acquaintance, a relationship, a choice or a financial opportunity from that period may resurface for consideration.
Just because something comes back doesn’t automatically mean we should keep it.
He tells us, however, that his story is not yet over.
4 November: Venus sextile Jupiter — perhaps it’s worth giving it a second chance?;
On 4 November, retrograde Venus in 24°43′ Libra forms a sextile with Jupiter in Leo.
It is one of the most encouraging aspects of the retrospective.
It may facilitate reconciliation, pleasant communication, a rapprochement, a financial settlement, or a gesture suggesting that there may still be hope for the situation.
However, the key word remains:
review.
The final stage has not yet arrived.
10 November: Venus sextile Mars — desire is put into action once again
On 10 November, Venus on 23°08′ Libra forms a sextile with Mars in Leo.
Attraction can lead to action.
Someone might take the approach they have so far avoided.
A relationship can rekindle romantic interest.
In other cases, we may simply realise that we want to demand something different from what we have accepted up to now.
14 November: Venus becomes direct at 22°51′ Libra
On 14 November, Venus finally returns to its normal course in the 22°51′ Libra.
That doesn’t mean, however, that everything suddenly becomes clear overnight.
Venus is still in its post-retrograde shadow.
The third phase is now beginning.
The first attempt made it happen.
The retrograde transit sparked scepticism.
The third attempt is the one that decides the outcome.
And this is where several of its most significant aspects are repeated for the third time.
24 November: Third Venus–North Node trine
On 24 November, Venus is once again forming a trine with the North Node.
The sequence is typical:
8 September: first pass.
1 November: retrograde transit.
24 November: final direct passage.
A case that was opened in early September may now reveal the direction in which it is actually likely to develop.
28 November: Venus sextile Jupiter — a second chance is put to the test
On 28 November, Venus, now in direct motion, is once again forming a sextile with Jupiter.
The same issue that was raised in the retrospective on 4 November may now take on a more concrete form.
Relationships can find common ground more easily.
Financial or professional arrangements can get back on track.
A person can now show through their actions what they really want.
29 November: Third Venus–Chiron opposition — healing or a repeat?;
On 29 November, Venus forms an opposition with Chiron for the third time.
And this is perhaps where one of the greatest trials of the cycle lies.
The issue, which first arose on 10 September and resurfaced on 28 October, is back for a final review.
This time we can ask:
Has the relationship changed, or has the fear of losing her simply subsided for the time being?;
4 December: Venus re-enters Scorpio
On 4 December, Venus, now moving direct, re-enters the sign of Scorpio.
And now we return to the point where the retrospective began — but this time armed with the information we have gathered in the meantime.
It is no longer early October.
We’ve seen who’s come back.
Who said that?.
Who has changed?.
Who promised that?.
And, above all, who has shown that they can behave differently?.
9 December: The third and final Venus–Pluto square
On 9 December, Venus on 3°45′ Scorpio It squares Pluto for the third time.
This is perhaps the most important final checkpoint of the retrospective period.
Remember the sequence:
15 September: 3°16′ Scorpio — first square.
20 October: 3°04′ Scorpio — second retrograde square.
9 December: 3°45′ Scorpio — third, orthodromic square.
Three acts of the same story.
The first passage builds the tension.
The second one reveals what lies beneath.
The third one demands results.
Either a relationship has changed, or it is now becoming very difficult to ignore its true dynamics.
12 December: Venus sextile Mars — now you can do something differently
On 12 December, Venus in Scorpio forms a sextile with Mars in Virgo.
In contrast to the challenging Venus–Mars square we experienced during the retrograde, this time the relationship between desire and action is becoming more harmonious.
Something can be done in a more deliberate way.
It’s a far cry from simply saying «I want you» to actually being able to build a relationship that works in everyday life.
Around 15 December: the shadow of Venus’s retrograde ends
When Venus once again passes beyond the 8°29′ Scorpio, the point at which it had come to a halt on 3 October, the entire retrograde cycle is effectively complete.
On 15 December, it is already around 8°35′ Scorpio, so that is where the post-retrospective shadow also ends.
From that point onwards, we can say that the chapter that began at the end of August has now gone through all three of its stages.
The four recurring stories
If you want to view Venus’s retrograde as a coherent narrative rather than a series of isolated dates, focus primarily on four sequences.
Venus – Pluto: passion, control, jealousy, obsession, power, financial or emotional dependence. The issue arises in September, resurfaces in October and comes to an end in December.
Venus – Chiron: fear of rejection, self-worth, relationship wounds, the need to be chosen. The same issue goes through three different stages until the end of November.
Venus – North Node: relationships, acquaintances and choices that take on particular significance and need to be re-evaluated before their direction becomes clear.
Venus – Jupiter: second chances, reconciliation, greater generosity, financial flexibility and the opportunity to see whether something can actually develop.
What you really need to watch out for
The biggest pitfall of the 2026 Venus retrograde is confusing the back with the change.
A person might come back because they miss you.
That doesn’t mean he can offer you a different kind of relationship.
There may still be strong romantic chemistry between them.
That does not mean that the trust issues have disappeared.
There may be an apology.
This does not mean that a recurring pattern has changed.
You may even feel a strong desire to relive something that once made you very happy.
Retrograde Venus, however, asks:
Do you only remember the passion, or do you also remember the reason it came to an end?;
That is why this period is an excellent time for reassessment, renegotiation and self-reflection.
However, this is not a time when we need to make decisions solely because something moves us once again.

around 15 December: emerging from the shadow, above 8°29′ Scorpio.
So the retrograde Venus of 2026 need not be seen as a period when «exes come back».
It is more of a period during which they return our choices.
And this time, we have the chance to see whether we’ll make the same choice again — or whether we’ve finally learnt something about what we’re worth.
How will Venus in retrograde affect each star sign?;
Venus retrograde from Scorpio to Libra prompts us to re-examine our relationships, emotions, choices and finances, as well as what we truly value in our lives. For some, this may mean the return of people from the past; for others, it may mean renegotiating an existing relationship; whilst for many, the main issue may be financial, professional or family-related.

ARIES
Retrograde Venus may cause the your relationships and commitments under the microscope. Someone from the past may return, or an existing relationship may need to renegotiate its terms. What you once accepted in order to maintain a balance may no longer satisfy you.
When Venus returns to Scorpio, the issue takes on a deeper dimension. Jealousy, trust, sexuality, emotional dependencies and shared finances may take centre stage. Debts, money matters between partners or even an old financial issue may resurface.
The important thing is not to assume that a strong reconciliation automatically proves that a relationship should be rekindled. See if the dynamics have changed, and not just the feelings.
TAURUS
As a sign ruled by Venus, you’re likely to feel this retrograde quite strongly. Your relationships will take centre stage, and someone may come back asking for a second chance, an explanation, or a different kind of relationship.
At the same time, you need to take a fresh look at your daily routine. A professional partnership may change, an old work-related issue may resurface, or you may realise that you have adapted your life too much to the needs of other people.

TWINS
Romances you thought were over may come knocking on your door again. Retrograde Venus strongly activates the part of flirtation, love, pleasure and creativity, and an old love story may become interesting again.
If you’re already in a relationship, you may need to rediscover the joy, spontaneity or sexual connection that has been lost in the daily grind. Issues relating to children or creative projects may also resurface.
Next, however, you will need to answer a practical question: can what you want actually work in real life, or is it only appealing whilst it remains a mere wish?;
CANCER
Retrograde Venus is touching on very personal areas of your life. An old love may return, but so too may a whole range of emotions rooted in the past.
Matters relating to home, family, living arrangements or relationships with those close to you need to be re-evaluated. Some Cancers may reconsider moving house or living with a partner, whilst others will need to assess whether a family pattern is influencing their romantic choices.

This is one of the most significant retrogrades for you, because Venus is your ruling planet and will return to your own sign.
The big question is about you: what you want, how you want to be treated, and which version of yourself you no longer want to sacrifice for the sake of a relationship.
People from the past may return, but old versions of yourself return with them. Be careful not to find yourself back in a situation simply because you’re afraid of loneliness or because you want to feel wanted again.
