We all have things we can get past. Mistakes we make excuses for, behaviours we decide to leave behind, and people to whom we give a second – or even a third – chance. But there’s usually that one red line which, when someone crosses it, permanently changes the way we see them.
And this red line isn’t drawn in the same place for everyone. Some find it harder to forgive betrayal, others belittlement, others restriction, and others the fact that someone has taken advantage of their kindness.
Of course, our star sign is only one part of our personality and cannot, on its own, describe the whole of the way we relate to others. However, it can give us an initial insight into our basic needs, our sensitivities and the things we tend to regard as non-negotiable.
So what is it that might make each star sign say: «That’s it. I won’t forget that, will I?»;
Aries — He won’t forgive you for trying to belittle him
An Aries can get really angry, tell you exactly what they’re thinking, and then, a short while later, act as if nothing had happened. That doesn’t mean, however, that they forgive everything. There is a huge difference between a heated argument and the feeling that someone has deliberately tried to belittle them.
You can disagree with him. You can stand up to him and, strangely enough, he might respect you all the more for daring to stand your ground. What he finds hard to tolerate is if you try to make him feel small, incapable or inadequate.
It will be even harder for him to forget the time you exploited one of his insecurities to gain the upper hand, or when you tried to undermine everything he has achieved.
Aries wants people around them whom they can treat as equals. If they realise that, rather than supporting them, you’re constantly trying to dampen their enthusiasm, there might not even need to be one final big row.
He may simply decide that there is no longer a place for you by his side.
Taurus — He won’t forgive you for betraying his trust
Taurus does not give his trust easily. He observes, waits, and needs to feel that the person he is dealing with is steady, predictable and reliable.
But when he finally does let you into his life, he invests a great deal in the relationship. And that is precisely why betrayal can leave a very deep mark.
We’re not talking exclusively about romantic infidelity. For a Taurus, betrayal can be a significant lie, a promise you’ve broken time and time again, personal information you’ve shared with others, or the fact that you vanished just when they were counting on you.
The interesting thing is that they might not leave straight away. They might try to rebuild what they’ve ruined and give you another chance.
But the moment they start to wonder whether they can really trust you, the relationship is no longer the same.
A Taurus may forgive you for your mistake. However, they find it hard to forget that you once made them feel unsafe with you.
Gemini — They won’t forgive you for trying to control what they say
Gemini need communication, stimulation and freedom. They can adapt to very different people and often put up with more conflict within a relationship than you might imagine.
What they cannot bear is the feeling that someone is gradually trying to restrict their world. Who are you talking to? Why did you say that? Why do you hold that view? Why do you want to go there? Why do you talk to that person so much?;
If every form of spontaneous expression is turned into an interrogation, they begin to shut themselves off.
Worse still, they find it hard to forgive someone who systematically twists their words or uses things they once said to turn them against them.
And there is a warning sign that many fail to pick up on in time: when a Gemini stops telling you what they’re thinking, what they’re planning and what’s going on in their life, the distance has already begun.
A Gemini’s silence towards you can say far more than an argument.
Cancer — He won’t forgive you for using his sensitivity against him
Cancer has a strong emotional memory. They may forget the exact words or even how an argument began. It is much harder, however, for them to forget the feelings you caused them.
Especially when he feels that you have used something he had confided in you against him.
If he has told you about a fear, a family trauma, an insecurity or something that once made him feel vulnerable, he expects this information to be safe with you.
So, if during an argument you use precisely this piece of information because you know that’s where it hurts the most, you may create a rift that isn’t easily mended.
A Cancer might even stay by your side. They might still love you and try to forgive you. But that doesn’t mean they’ll ever show you those same sides of themselves again.
They may forgive you, yet at the same time never feel safe enough to open up to you as they did before.
Leo — He won’t forgive you for humiliating him in public
Leo is often associated with pride, but this word is frequently misunderstood. It does not mean that they cannot accept criticism. It means that respect is a fundamental prerequisite for their close relationships.
You can tell him he was wrong. You can voice a complaint to him or point out something that bothered you. What he finds hard to get over is the feeling that your aim wasn’t to solve a problem, but to humiliate him.
If you mock him in front of others, reveal something personal to embarrass him, or use a vulnerable moment of his as a joke to make a good impression, you’ve crossed one of his biggest red lines.
For Leo, love without respect can hardly be considered true love.
And here lies the paradox: he may still have feelings for you and yet no longer want you to be together.
Because he can get over a row. It’s much harder for him to get over the memory of you once making him feel ashamed because he trusted you.
Virgo — He won’t forgive you for taking him for granted
Virgos do not always express their love through grand declarations. Very often, they express it through their actions.
They’ll remember something you need. They’ll solve a practical problem. They’ll try to help you. They’ll spot a detail that everyone else has overlooked.
And because many of these actions take place quietly, there is a risk that people might start to take them for granted.
That is also where one of Virgo’s greatest disappointments lies: feeling that what she offers has, in your eyes, been transformed from an act of love into an obligation.
Think about how many times she tried, how many times she made things easier for you, how many times she said «it’s all right», and how many times you didn’t stop to wonder whether, in the end… it actually did bother her.
She may not make a scene when she reaches her limit. Instead, she may simply stop doing all those things you once took for granted.
And when a Virgo stops trying, she’s usually already much more exhausted than you realise.

Libra — They won’t forgive you for deliberate injustice
Libras are willing to make many concessions in order to maintain a relationship. They’ll listen to your side of the story, try to understand your motives, and quite often come up with their own excuses for behaviour that has annoyed them.
Don’t confuse this need for balance with weakness, though.
At some point, you begin to realise who makes the most compromises. Who apologises. Who tries to re-establish communication. Who gives, and who simply waits to receive.
What he will find hard to forgive is if there are double standards within your relationship. Demanding things from him that you don’t offer yourself, or accusing him of behaviour that you allow yourself to engage in.
It hurts him even more when the injustice is accompanied by a reversal of roles, and he is ultimately the one called upon to defend himself.
A Libra may forgive a mistake. However, they are unlikely to call something a «mistake» if you did it knowing full well that it was wrong.
Scorpio — They won’t forgive you for your betrayal
If there is one star sign that deeply links intimacy with trust, it is Scorpio.
He doesn’t let everyone know how he really feels. So when he grants you access to those parts of himself that he keeps hidden away, he considers that there is an unwritten contract between you.
That is why betrayal is not simply experienced as a bad incident. It can completely change the image they had formed of you.
A big lie that has been kept up for a long time, a double life, the revelation of personal secrets, infidelity or deliberate manipulation can cause him to re-examine the entire history of the relationship.
Why doesn’t he just ask, «Why did you do it?» He also asks, «How much of what I believed was actually true?».
And that is much more difficult to put right.
A Scorpio may forgive you one day. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll trust you again.
Sagittarius — He won’t forgive you for trying to clip his wings
Sagittarius needs to feel that life still holds new horizons. They want to discover, learn, try new things and grow.
That does not mean he cannot commit himself. It means he does not want that commitment to require him to narrow his horizons.
Excessive jealousy, constant questioning, controlling behaviour and the demand that he give up people, interests or plans in order to prove his love may gradually drive him away.
But there is one more thing he finds hard to forget: the man who laughed at his dreams.
If he ever spoke to you enthusiastically about something he wanted to achieve and your reaction was to mock him, discourage him or explain all the reasons why «it won’t work», they may remember that moment far more clearly than you realise.
Sagittarius wants someone who will give them yet another reason to spread their wings — not yet another reason to fold them up.
Capricorn — They won’t forgive you for your lack of respect
Capricorns attach great importance to consistency. They do not judge a person solely by what they say, but primarily by what they do when the time comes to back up their words.
That is why it is much easier to forgive a single mistake than a recurring pattern of irresponsibility.
If you constantly break your promises, leave them in the lurch, only show up when it suits you, or act as if their time and effort are worthless, you will gradually lose something extremely important: their respect.
The same applies if you undermine his goals, his work or his ambitions. You don’t have to agree with every choice he makes, but he wants to know that the person by his side isn’t working against what he’s trying to build.
And once respect is lost, an apology is not enough. For a Capricorn, what is needed are actions, time and consistency.
However, by the time you decide to prove to him that you’ve changed, he may already have decided that he’s no longer interested in waiting.
Aquarius — He won’t forgive you for trying to change him
Aquarius has a great need to feel that they can be themselves without constantly having to apologise for it.
You can disagree with him. You may not understand all his choices. He might even enjoy a good debate, as long as there’s room for both sides.
What he will find hard to put up with is the feeling that your acceptance comes with strings attached.
«You’d be perfect if you changed that.»
«Why can’t you be more like…?»
«Why do you have to be so different?»
If the message he keeps receiving is that you would love him more if he were different, at some point he will wonder why he should stay in a relationship in which he is expected to give up parts of himself.
And when an Aquarius truly disengages, it may not even cause a scene. They may continue to be polite, well-mannered and completely calm.
You simply won’t have access to his world any more.
He won’t easily forgive you for asking him to betray himself in order to prove that he loves you.
Pisces — They won’t forgive you for taking advantage of their kindness
Pisces tend to seek out the «why» behind a person’s behaviour.
You may have hurt them, yet they will still try to understand what led you to that point. They will think about what you’ve been through, what you were afraid of, and which of your own wounds may have been triggered.
And that might lead them to offer more opportunities than anyone else would.
However, there is a huge difference between making a mistake and taking advantage of someone because you know they are likely to forgive you.
If Pisces realise that you have used their empathy as an excuse to repeat the same behaviour, their disappointment will be profound.
And often their decision to leave comes when the other person isn’t expecting it. They may have forgiven time and time again, and then suddenly, over something that seems trivial, they end the relationship for good.
However, it wasn’t the last incident. It was everything that had happened before.
Pisces are capable of forgiving a great deal out of love. However, they do not easily forget the moment they realised you had used that love against them.
