Hourly astrology is a valuable method forecast and interpretation used to answer questions when the exact time or even date of birth of a person is not known. This is a common problem faced by many people, as the exact time of birth may not be recorded or may have been lost over time.
In horary astrology, the astrologer uses the time at which a question is received to create a natal chart for that question. Instead of the birth of the person, the "birth" of the question is used. Based on the position of the planets and constellations at that particular time, the astrologer analyzes and interprets the chart to answer the specific question asked.
This method can answer a variety of questions, such as about love, career, travel, health and much more. However, cannot answer hypothetical questions (see examples below). It is a method that provides guidelines and orientation for the decisions and challenges we face in life.
In Antiquity
In ancient times, astrologers used horary astrology to predict important events in relation to crucial decisions or events in history. For example, a question about the success or failure of a strategy in war or a political decision could be answered with the help of horary astrology. In addition, they used astrology to predict natural disasters, climate changes and other important developments that affected ancient societies.
The questions that have been answered since ancient times by horary astrology are varied, including questions about work, health, love, travel and more. It was also used to predict important events, from victories in battles, political decisions and natural disasters to the future of a society.
However, cannot answer questions that involve hypothetical situations or that contain false intentions. In fact, regarding false intentions, there are specific astrological rules that warn the astrologer through the astrological chart of the question: the so-called 'warning rules'. Astrologers placed enormous emphasis on them in order to protect their reputation and themselves, since in ancient times they risked being sentenced to imprisonment or death if their prediction did not please the people in power or if they risked 'wasting time' on interpreting a false question. Together, remember that if the hourly is used to answer a question, then the same thing cannot be asked again in less than three months. The only exception is if something about the situation has changed that was not known before the question was asked. Otherwise, any other hourly astrological chart used beyond the original question will most likely give an incorrect answer. If you are interested in delving into astrology and learning more about the stars and zodiac signs, this is the time! Examples of Questions Answered by Horary Astrology
The questions that the hourly may resolve must be specific and time-bound. Some examples of questions are as follows:
- Will there be a reconnection with X within the next six months?
- Will the court I have in October be in my favor?
- Is my partner cheating on me?
- I am approached by Z. What are his intentions for me?
- I had an interview yesterday for a very good job. Will I be able to get it?
- How will my health be during the rest of 2023?
- Am I going to lose my job next quarter?
- I want to make X purchase. Is it a good investment?
- I lost my pet. Where is he right now?
*The above questions are only a few examples of possible questions.
In addition, the hourly helps us to make the best possible choice when we are torn between two available ones. For example:
- I received a scholarship from 2 universities. Which one should I choose to ensure a better career? In these cases, the respondent needs to specify an A and a B option, depending on which university he/she thinks is best for him/her at that moment.
- I am approached by Maria and Anna. Which one of them really has feelings for me?
- Should I stay in Greece, or go abroad for a better future?
Examples of Questions Not Answered by Horary Astrology
- If I were a doctor, would my financial situation be better? The question is hypothetical and does not concern a situation that already exists.
- Is the neighbor cheating on her husband? This question does not concern the questioner, nor does it have any effect on the result, so astrology will not provide an answer.
- Will I get married in my lifetime? This question is not time-limited. It can be answered through the natal promise.
- Will I win the court case X? If the case was not even taken, the question is considered false and cannot be answered.
Example of an Answered Question

- I received an offer today for a new job. Will it be better than the one I have now?
The horoscope of the question is shown in the left image of the text. One method to answer the question is to see which aspect the Moon has most recently made and what the next aspect is going to be in the day. Η deviant aspect (the one before) reveals information about existing work. Η Convergent (the one that is to be done during the rest of the day), gives information about the nature of the next job, i.e. the one for which the respondent accepted the new proposal.
As shown in the above chart, the Moon is at 18 degrees of Aries and is about to move about 13 degrees during the day (so it will move to 1 degree of Taurus). Its divergent aspect is with Mercury in Aquarius in the eighth house, which 'speaks' of the job the person is in. From these clues, one understands that it is a medium quality job (by the respondent's standards), because Mercury in Aquarius is not in dominance, exaltation, but neither is it in decline or weakness, making it a 'lukewarm indication'. Together, we understand that he does not feel secure and stable in his job, due to the nature of the sign and the ecotheia.
Regarding the next job, the Moon in the next 13 degrees will meet Saturn in Aquarius at 28 degrees and in the 9th house. Saturn may appear in the 8th house, but it is less than 5 degrees from the cusp of the 9th house, so it works in the 8th house. So this is a much better job and in a much more positive environment, because the 9th house is considered lucky and Saturn in Aquarius is in a dominant position. The paradox, however, is the planet's retrograde (i.e. degrees 27, 28, 29 are called retrograde and indicate a change in a situation). Simply put, his next job will only be better during the initial interval. After a while it will have no particular differences from the previous one, because the next sign Saturn will visit is Pisces, in which it again has no value (dominance, exaltation, fall or weakness).
Finally, we have to look at the ruler of the first house and the Moon, which in this case is the same planet: the Moon in Aries. Next, we need to look at whether the sign of Aries is taking credit for the planets that symbolize its present and potential next job, to see if it will be happy. Aries does not take any honor (dominance, exaltation, weakness, fall) to Mercury, which indicates that he is totally unconcerned with the work he currently has. Conversely, Aries shows a fall in Saturn, revealing that the next task either scares him as a step or will not satisfy him in the long run.
In conclusion, the answer to the above question is: the job for which he has been offered will only be better for the first period of adjustment. Afterwards, it will feel that it has made a 'hole in the water' in its professional life, because in the long run the choice will not satisfy it.
